The same chair, a new finish
The Henley has always been about the shape: a gently curved, pill-shaped back, a rounded seat, tapered legs and a curved wooden rail that follows the backrest, so the chair looks considered from behind as well as from the front. These two keep all of that and change the upholstery to smooth PU faux leather over high-density foam, on a walnut-finished solid wood frame.
Black or white
Black is the confident one. Against the warm walnut it gives a strong mid-century contrast, and it sits comfortably with both light and dark furniture. White is a warm ivory rather than a stark white, a softer contrast for a room in warm neutrals. Both come as a set of two, and you can run the two together around one table.
Where it works
A dining room, a kitchen dining area or a breakfast space, and anywhere a chair has to cope with daily meals. Faux leather is the practical upholstery wherever food is served: spills wipe off rather than soaking in. That is why these are the Henleys we would suggest for a café or a restaurant. Our guide to Henley faux leather chairs on a restaurant floor covers spacing, quantities and ordering for a room full of them.
Living with it
Wipe the faux leather with a damp cloth and dry it. Dust the walnut frame.
The rest of the Henley range
The same design comes in five textured fabrics, including the new light grey, green and blue, and as a bar stool. For all seven dining chair colours together, see the Henley dining chair.
