Sustainability, honestly
We are a young company, and we would rather tell you exactly where we stand than dress it up. Here is what is true today, what we are working toward, and how you can help any piece of furniture last longer.
Where we stand
Furniture100 curates designer-looking furniture and gets it to your door. We do not run the factories that make it, so we are careful not to claim credit we have not earned. You will not find vague badges or big green promises on this page that we cannot stand behind.
We would rather under-claim and be trusted than over-claim and be caught out. As we grow and learn more about how each piece is made, we will say more here, and only when it is genuinely true.
What is true today
Modest, but real. These are things we can say with a straight face right now.
Not fast furniture
We are not in the business of disposable trends that are made to be replaced within a season. We would rather help you find a piece you love and keep, instead of feeding the throwaway churn that defines fast furniture.
Chosen to be kept
We pick pieces for timeless design and everyday durability, the kind you keep for years rather than replace in a season. The longer a piece stays loved, the lighter its footprint.
No greenwashing
We will not put an eco label on a product unless we can show you why it is there. If we make a specific environmental claim anywhere on this site, we will have the evidence to back it up.
A small, honest team
We are a lean online business run from Lincoln, not a sprawling operation. Low overhead keeps prices down and keeps us close to the details that matter.
What we are working toward
We are at the start of this, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Here is where we are putting our effort:
- Asking more of our suppliers, over time, about the materials and packaging behind each piece.
- Giving you clearer information about what a product is made of and how to recycle it at the end of its life.
- Cutting avoidable packaging waste wherever we can influence it.
- Being transparent as we measure more, and sharing real numbers here only once we genuinely have them.
Help your furniture last
The most sustainable piece of furniture is the one you do not have to replace. A little care goes a long way:
- Rotate and plump seat cushions so they wear evenly.
- Keep timber and upholstery out of direct heat and strong sunlight.
- Deal with spills early, and follow the care notes for the fabric.
When it has had its day
Please do not send furniture to landfill if it can be saved. Charities such as the British Heart Foundation collect used furniture for reuse, most local councils offer bulky-waste collection or recycling, and community reuse groups will often take a piece off your hands. Most of the cardboard and paper your order arrives in can be recycled at the kerbside too, just flatten it down first.
Hold us to it
If you ever see a claim on this site you do not think we have earned, email us at hello@furniture100.co.uk and we will fix it. Holding us to our word is more than fair.
