Most of our seating comes in a family of colours on a shared frame, so a room can be matched or deliberately mixed without hunting two suppliers.
A straight answer on suitability
If a piece is not right for your setting we will say so. A sale that comes back is worse for us than the one we did not make.
Fire safety, before you order
Furniture for a home and furniture for a restaurant are held to different standards, and the gap catches people out. It is worth understanding before you buy from anyone, us included.
The domestic rules are a floor, not a certificate. The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 cover furniture ordinarily intended for private use in a dwelling. Meeting them does not make a chair suitable for a public room, and nobody should tell you it does.
Non-domestic seating is specified by hazard category. BS 7176 sets what upholstered seating should meet according to where it is used, and it tests the cover and the filling together, as a composite. Restaurants, bars and hotels usually fall in the medium hazard category, which calls for the BS 5852 ignition source 5 test, the one the trade calls crib 5. Offices and reception areas commonly sit in the lower category, so the bar is not the same for every project.
The decision is yours. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises decides what the setting requires, through the fire risk assessment. No supplier can make that call for you, and one offering to should give you pause.
Where we stand. Tell us the setting and what your assessment calls for, and we will tell you exactly what evidence we can supply for the pieces you are considering. Where we cannot evidence something, we will say so plainly rather than reach for the word contract. One thing worth knowing while you compare suppliers: a certificate for a fabric on its own is not the same as a composite certificate for that fabric over that filling, and it is the composite that BS 7176 asks for.
