Cheer Bentwood Dining Chair: 74cm Tall, 46cm Seat, S-Shaped Walnut Supports, Sold Singly

By Furniture1002 min read

Cheer olive green upholstered dining chair with S-shaped bentwood supports and splayed walnut legs

The Cheer is the small mid-century chair in our dining range, and the one you can buy one at a time. A curved upholstered backrest held on S-shaped bentwood supports, splayed walnut-finish legs, and a footprint compact enough for a small room: 74cm high, 46cm wide, 51cm deep. It is as much a desk or bedroom chair as a dining chair, which is why it is sold singly.

What it is

An armless upholstered chair with a gently curved backrest. The distinctive part is the pair of S-shaped bentwood supports that rise from the seat to hold the back, with the legs splayed outward below. The frame is walnut-finished wood; the seat and back are foam-padded under a textured polyester-blend fabric.

Seat height46cm

Who it suits

A small dining room, a kitchen table, a desk, or a bedroom corner. The 46cm width is narrow enough to seat six at a modest table, and the 46cm seat suits a standard 75cm tabletop with room for your legs.

Being sold singly is the practical point. Most of our dining chairs come in pairs, which is efficient for a table of four or six but awkward for a table of five, a single desk chair, or a spare seat for the end of the table. The Cheer fills those gaps.

Olive or blue

Olive is the version in our photographs and the one that sits naturally with the walnut frame and an oak table. Blue is cooler and a touch sharper, and suits white walls with black accents. Frame and shape are identical.

Cheer or Henley

Both are walnut-framed mid-century dining chairs. The Henley has a wraparound backrest, tapered legs and comes in pairs, and it is part of a range with a matching bar stool. The Cheer is smaller, has the S-shaped supports, and is sold one at a time.

Living with it

Vacuum the fabric with a soft brush and blot spills. Dust the walnut frame. Assembly is required.

Frequently asked questions

What size is the Cheer chair?

The product page states 74cm high, 46cm wide and 51cm deep, with a 46cm seat height. That is compact, and the 46cm seat suits the standard 75cm table.

Is it sold as a pair?

No. The Cheer is the one dining chair in our range sold singly, so you can buy exactly the number you need, including odd numbers or a single chair for a desk.

What are the S-shaped supports?

Bentwood pieces that curve from the seat up to the backrest in an S, holding the back away from the seat. They are the mid-century detail that gives the chair its look, and they are walnut-finished wood.

What is the fabric?

A textured polyester-blend, padded with foam on both seat and back. It vacuums with a soft brush and takes a blot for spills.

Olive or blue?

Olive is the warmer choice and the one that sits naturally with the walnut frame and with oak. Blue is cooler and sharper, and suits a room with white walls and black accents.
