Mayfair Fluted Console Table: Oval Pedestal, Pill-Shaped Top, 110cm Wide, Three Finishes
By Furniture1002 min read

The Mayfair is the fluted console designed to be walked past. A rounded pill-shaped top with no corners, on a central oval pedestal of vertical fluting that leaves the floor clear at both ends, 110cm wide and 40cm deep. It comes as marble-effect on walnut, as oak-effect throughout, or as black, and the shape is identical in all three.
What it is
A softly rounded console. The top is pill-shaped, the pedestal is an oval of vertical fluting that catches the light differently through the day, and the pedestal sits centrally rather than on legs at the corners. The product page states 110cm wide, 40cm deep and 78cm high.
Who it suits
A hallway where people pass close by, because there is nothing to catch: no corners on the top, no legs at the ends. It holds a lamp, a tray and keys without pushing into the walking space, and at 40cm deep it has a little more surface than the slimmest consoles.
It also works in a living room against a wall, where the fluted pedestal does the job of a piece of sculpture.
The three finishes
- Marble-effect on walnut: a cream top with soft veining on a deep walnut-toned fluted base. The richest of the three.
- Oak-effect throughout: top and pedestal in one warm oak tone, so the piece reads as a single material. The calmest.
- Black throughout: graphic and modern, and the one for a pale hall that needs an anchor.
Mayfair or Belgravia
Both are fluted-pedestal consoles at around 100cm to 110cm. The Belgravia has a circular disc base with an open centre and reads as a statement. The Mayfair's oval pedestal is the quieter shape and the one that comes in three finishes.
Living with it
A damp cloth for the top; a soft brush for dust in the fluting.

Frequently asked questions
How big is the Mayfair?
The product page states 110cm wide, 40cm deep and 78cm high. It is a touch deeper than our 30cm consoles, so it holds a lamp, a tray and a bowl of keys with room to spare.
Why a central pedestal?
There are no legs at the corners, so the floor is clear at both ends and nothing catches a foot. The table reads as lighter than its footprint, and the pedestal sits centrally so the top overhangs evenly.
Why is the top pill-shaped?
No corners to catch in a hallway where people pass close. The rounded ends are the same reason the pedestal is oval: the whole piece is designed to be brushed past.
Are the three versions the same table?
Same shape and size. The marble-effect version has a cream top with soft veining on a walnut-toned base; the oak-effect is one warm tone throughout; the black is black throughout. Choose on the room.
Is the marble real?
No. It is a cream marble-effect top, which gives the veining without the weight or the staining, and we say marble-effect rather than marble. The oak is oak-effect for the same reason.
