Instead of four legs, the Elston stands on rectangles. At each end, a rectangular frame interlocks with an upright, and a long open frame, one rail under the top and one at the floor, ties the two ends together. The space beneath the top stays open and the wall shows through. It is architectural without being heavy, and the whole design is in the frame.
The grey oak effect is soft and quietly natural, and suits pale walls and linen. Warm white keeps a bright hall bright and lets the shape do the talking. Black is the boldest: against a light wall, the frame reads almost as a line drawing.
At 25.4cm deep, the Elston is the slimmest console in our range, which matters most where space is tightest: a narrow hallway, a landing, or the gap behind a sofa. Its product pages suggest a hallway, a living room or behind a sofa. It is 139.7cm long, so it holds a lamp at one end and a vase or a stack of books at the other. Yes, at 25.4cm deep it is the slimmest in our range at the time of writing, which makes it a good fit for a narrow hallway or behind a sofa with little room to spare.
MDF, in a grey oak, warm white or black wood-effect finish. It needs assembling when it arrives.
Grey oak is the softest and suits pale walls and natural textures. Warm white keeps a bright hall bright. Black turns the geometric frame into a strong outline, best against a light wall.
